Your First Visit, Made Simple
Angel Spine Clinic is located at 337 City Road, Angel, EC1V 1LJ. We are easily reached by public transport, with Angel and Old Street tube stations both within walking distance, alongside several bus routes along City Road. As we are in a busy part of London, we’d recommend travelling by public transport rather than driving, as on-street parking is limited.
01
Your First Appointment
Your first appointment, also known as your initial consultation, is designed to help us understand the reason for your visit and how best to help you. It usually lasts between 45 and 60 minutes and follows three stages.
02
Case History
Your practitioner will start by asking questions about why you’re here. This typically covers the area and severity of your pain, how long you’ve had it, what makes it better or worse, any associated symptoms, relevant past history, and a general overview of your health.
03
Physical Examination
Next, your practitioner will examine you to understand what’s going on. This usually includes the affected area as well as any other areas that might be contributing.
This can include:
- Visual and postural observation
- Orthopaedic and neurological examination
- Functional assessment
- Chiropractic motion palpation or osteopathic joint examination
- Further tests or imaging referral, if needed
04
Report of Findings
Once your case history and examination are complete, your practitioner will talk you through what they’ve found. This includes an explanation of your problem, what the examination showed, and a treatment plan tailored to you, including any risks or side effects, the rationale behind the approach, and answers to any questions you have.
05
How to Prepare
A little preparation goes a long way in helping us get the most out of your first appointment.
- Wear or bring comfortable clothing that allows easy movement, such as gym wear or loose-fitting clothes
- Bring a list of any medications you’re currently taking
- If you have had any relevant scans, X-rays, or letters from other healthcare professionals, bring copies or be ready to share details
- Try to arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork
06
Stages of Care
Most people’s journey with chiropractic or osteopathic care follows a similar pattern:
Initial Consultation
Assessment, diagnosis, and a tailored treatment plan.
Acute Phase
Typically 4 to 12 sessions, weekly or twice weekly, focused on managing pain and restoring function.
Rehabilitative Phase
More emphasis on self-care and corrective exercise, with supportive treatment sessions on a semi-regular basis.
Maintenance Phase
Treatment frequency reduces to monthly or quarterly, with a focus on prevention.
Your practitioner will explain what this looks like for you, including the number and type of treatments recommended, alongside recovery advice and any exercises to support your progress.

Your Questions, Answered
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral from my GP to see a chiropractor or osteopath?
No, you can book directly with us without needing a referral. If, during your assessment, we feel a referral elsewhere is needed, we’ll let you know and can guide you on next steps.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best, as it allows for movement and examination of the affected area. Many patients choose to wear gym wear or similar.
Is treatment covered by health insurance?
Many private health insurance providers cover chiropractic and osteopathic treatment. We’d recommend checking with your provider beforehand to confirm your level of cover and whether you need a reference number. If you are planning to use your health insurance, it might be worth getting in touch beforehand so we can book you in with a practitioner that is covered by your specific insurance.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on your individual situation. After your first appointment, your practitioner will give you a realistic idea of what to expect, whether that’s a single session, a short course of treatment, or an ongoing plan.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand things come up. Please let us know as early as possible if you need to change your appointment, so we can offer the slot to someone else. Our booking system allows you to manage your appointments online.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend, family member, or carer with you if that would make you more comfortable.

The only reason I can manage walking without a walking stick is the treatment I receive from them every week. Their treatment improved my quality of life. I would highly recommend them both.Posted on Google Tina DasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Both practitioners are amazing and good at the job they do. Absolutely worth every minute.Posted on Google Just I.JTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been having sessions with Diana and Petros since last year August 2025, their advice guidance and treatment is second to none. When I began at Sel Therapy I was stiff and struggling to move, with my head feeling very very heavy resting on my neck and I was also having an uncomfortable aching pain throughout my arms, which I could not ignore all day. The mobilisation techniques they have used have freed up my neck, shoulders and head and I have felt quite a reduction in the aching in my arms. I am so grateful for Diana and Petros, their attentiveness and care is a different option to taking pain killers every day, which is not recommended or something I would consider. You will not be disappointed if you try this service and you will see improvement instantly, you do have to be prepared to do the stretches and help yourself but they certainly get you onto a great path. Thank you Diana & Petros 😊Posted on Google JojoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. When I first visited Diana for a running injury, I honestly thought my running days were over. I was dealing with constant pain that seemed to travel from my hips down both legs and even into my neck. From the very first session, I noticed a huge improvement, and Diana also gave me tailored strength exercises to help rebuild my body properly. Fast forward just 6–7 months, and I’m now running faster and further than before — completely pain-free. I can confidently say I will complete my half marathon without injury, something I never thought would be possible. Diana has been incredible throughout the whole process, and I genuinely can’t recommend her highly enough!Posted on Google Stephanie VineTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
