Your First Visit, Made Simple

Angel Spine Clinic is located at 337 City Road, Angel, EC1V 1LJ. We are easily reached by public transport, with Angel and Old Street tube stations both within walking distance, alongside several bus routes along City Road. As we are in a busy part of London, we’d recommend travelling by public transport rather than driving, as on-street parking is limited.

01

Your First Appointment

Your first appointment, also known as your initial consultation, is designed to help us understand the reason for your visit and how best to help you. It usually lasts between 45 and 60 minutes and follows three stages.

02

Case History

Your practitioner will start by asking questions about why you’re here. This typically covers the area and severity of your pain, how long you’ve had it, what makes it better or worse, any associated symptoms, relevant past history, and a general overview of your health.

03

Physical Examination

Next, your practitioner will examine you to understand what’s going on. This usually includes the affected area as well as any other areas that might be contributing.

04

Report of Findings

Once your case history and examination are complete, your practitioner will talk you through what they’ve found. This includes an explanation of your problem, what the examination showed, and a treatment plan tailored to you, including any risks or side effects, the rationale behind the approach, and answers to any questions you have.

05

How to Prepare

A little preparation goes a long way in helping us get the most out of your first appointment.

06

Stages of Care

Most people’s journey with chiropractic or osteopathic care follows a similar pattern:

Assessment, diagnosis, and a tailored treatment plan.

Typically 4 to 12 sessions, weekly or twice weekly, focused on managing pain and restoring function.

More emphasis on self-care and corrective exercise, with supportive treatment sessions on a semi-regular basis.

Treatment frequency reduces to monthly or quarterly, with a focus on prevention.

Your practitioner will explain what this looks like for you, including the number and type of treatments recommended, alongside recovery advice and any exercises to support your progress.

Your Questions, Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

No, you can book directly with us without needing a referral. If, during your assessment, we feel a referral elsewhere is needed, we’ll let you know and can guide you on next steps.

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best, as it allows for movement and examination of the affected area. Many patients choose to wear gym wear or similar.

Many private health insurance providers cover chiropractic and osteopathic treatment. We’d recommend checking with your provider beforehand to confirm your level of cover and whether you need a reference number. If you are planning to use your health insurance, it might be worth getting in touch beforehand so we can book you in with a practitioner that is covered by your specific insurance.

This varies depending on your individual situation. After your first appointment, your practitioner will give you a realistic idea of what to expect, whether that’s a single session, a short course of treatment, or an ongoing plan.

We understand things come up. Please let us know as early as possible if you need to change your appointment, so we can offer the slot to someone else. Our booking system allows you to manage your appointments online.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend, family member, or carer with you if that would make you more comfortable.
